  hello guys!.

  as you know, my wife woke up about a month and a half ago.

  recently, by "mistake", we talked with her mother, (a hard-core believer) some details that we shouldn't at this moment.

  Tough time. Really sorry for you. And maybe if you don't want certain things to happen you can play your cards accordingly as some have suggested.

  i looked up that scripture didn't find anything that talked about that.

  does anyone know the actuall scripture she was talking about?

  Ditching the Book Study. Is it just a Buy Now, Pay Later option for the WT?

  it's unconfirmed and it may be nothing more than a rumour but it seems that the congregation book study may be about to see it's demise.

  i think this could have a very positive effect as far as the watchtower is concerned for quite a few years.. the mood will be lifted.

  there will be a whole new evening of freedom and the brothers will be happy for it, don't underestimate the goodwill this will generate.

  I was very surprised when I read of the scrapping of the book study. I agree with the assertion of the OP'er and others, and think that the reduced indoctrination time will result in less effective control of a lot of members' minds. 100 successive hours of non-direct influence is rather a substantial time.

  about 3 months ago a jw brother slips on the steps on the way out of his local kh.

  the step was mossy and slippery as a leaking gutter had been left unattended to.

  this brother had pointed out to the elders that the slippy step was an accident waiting to happen for one of the olders ones.

  I am going to my first meeting at a Kingdom Hall today......

  i decided to take in my first meeting today in an effort to better understand my girlfriend's family.

  to be honest, i am not looking forward to this at all.

  i know most all the people i am going to meet are nice and mean well.

  You can never be sure that a person won't go back to the religion if they have been raised in it.

  I'm sorry, but you f@C%!ng can. :) I was born in and I assure you I will not be taking it up again.

  The ex-JW should be sure and have done sufficient research to be in no doubt. But this is something that can be discussed by both parties.

  Richard Dawkins Gets "Expelled" by Ben Stein!

  i just got back from seeing the new movie release "expelled" which is a documentary exposing the militant culture of supression regarding intelligent design in the scientific community.

  in a "million years", i never would have imagined that ben stein could get the author of "the god delusion", richard dawkins to speak favorably about i.d.

  (intellignet design).

  Ah, Creationism's last stand. Unable to compete on a truly scientific level (having no scientific theories to speak of) they are reduced to taking pot-shots at the scientific community for not letting them play.

  That would seem to be the case. Sad really.
